I created my account on the 17th of May and began to experiment with Medium’s Search Engine Optimization, right off the bat. I posted a few series to find out the number of views I could expect without sharing my work with anyone.

I got two views, in five days.

This highlights how important it is to share your work when you are getting started. I did not want to share my work with my friends or my professional network, just yet. Nonetheless, I did want more engagement on my page. So, I did the next best thing: I joined Facebook groups and publicized my work there.

I joined five different groups for Netflix recommendations, two that were solely dedicated to ‘Haunting of Hill House’, and 3 more about online courses. I went on to post links to my Medium in the groups. Even though I did not get any likes or comments on these individual posts, I do believe that this was what prompted most of the audience to my account.
